St Endellion Climate Friendly Parish
Here is an update on the project. Have a look around the website as it lots of useful links. Please get in touch for more information ....
We now have a Constitution – which has been signed by the members of the steering committee. We will be applying for grants now that we are formally constituted.
We are developing our work with Port Isaac Primary School - once is with MARLIN about marine life and the implications of climate change, and the other is with with Malcolm Lee, our expert on local natural history project . We also intend to explore energy efficiency issues and perhaps work with Community Energy Plus
We received a prize of £500 towards the insulation of the Village Hall and we are exploring ways to raise funds for the balance. All donations welcome!!
We now have a new logo (see top of page).
We are exploring being part of a local food network and working with Organic Southwest and the various Transition groups. We will be writing an article for the local magazine, Trio, on this.
Local faith group – Next meeting Tuesday 6th May at 7.30 in St Endellion Hall. Topic will be Creation and Climate Change.
Transport – Proposal to improve information on the available buses in the parish by publishing a regular column in Trio covering both a simplified timetable and also interesting and useful bus trips.
We are reviewing our action plan . Any ideas please let us know.
Carbon calculator. This was discussed and there were widely differing views on both its utility and practicality. Agreed we would consider this over the next month and to do some sort of survey in tandem with the Climate Friendly Fortnight and use it to publicise the Green Fair which we will be having during the 13th-28th September.
Energy monitors. We finally have got some working energy monitors. Members of the steering group will be using them and will write up for Trio.
We agreed to support the Friends of the Earth Green Fair in Wadebridge on Saturday June 21st
Other Climate Friendly parishes are starting up and also local transition groups. St Gennys has started a Transition Group and Tony is speaking at their first meeting and St Merryn has started a Climate Friendly Parish and is having its AGM on 22nd April
Holifair is on from 8th to 10th August and that it would be good to have a Climate Friendly Parish stall.
Our next meeting will be on Monday May 19th, 7.30 – 9.00 Garrick, 34 Trewetha Lane, Port Isaac - all welcome.
